4G LTE 4G Network Launched in San Francisco for Emergency Authorities

Verizon has said they'd have their LTE network deployed commercially by the end of 2010. It looks like San Fransisco will be the first to experience their network, however, it's not for consumers. Motorola has agreed to build the 700Mhz 4G network designed solely for EMS and police services. These departments can thank Sheriff Gregory Ahem, Sheriff of Alameda Country, who is the executive sponsor and the one responsible for putting this deal together. Employees are excited because with LTE's typical speeds around 5-12Mbps down, accessing their databases should be much faster than their 3G services. Motorola will be building the network this year and will have it available for use in 2011.
