On Sunday, September 18th AT&T officially launched their 4G LTE service in Houston, TX providing faster data access for customers. The coverage will go as far north as The Woodlands, TX and down towards Texas City and Calvenston, TX. Their LTE service is designed to offer customers a service that is 4 times faster than their current 3G HSPA+ network, which should yield speeds comparable to Verizon's 4G LTE network. Verizon 4G is currently available in 143 markets, while AT&T's initial LTE launch only includes 5 markets currently. The area in dark blue represents their new 4G LTE network in the picture above. This area is on of the few areas in the country that can get 4G LTE service through either AT&T or Verizon, as well as 4G WiMAX service with Sprint.
