A top company executive for AT&T indicated they'll launch LTE-Advanced network technology in 2013, while speaking at the LTE North America conference in Dallas. They declined to elaborate on the complete details or timing of the LTE-Advanced deployment. After LTE-Advanced goes live it will be a large upgrade from standard 4G LTE technology improving coverage and capacity. At this time AT&T is at the bottom of the 4G race and currently only has 4G available in Athens, Ga., Baltimore, Boston, Washington, D.C. Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio. AT&T plans to have LTE deployed in 15 markets covering 70 million POPs by the end of the year, while Verizon will have over 185 markets with 4G LTE.
