At last, Clearwire has expanded beyond their home base of Portland to offer their Clear WiMAX service in a second market (and I'm not counting Baltimore yet): Atlanta! The official website for Clear now offers coverage maps for both Atlanta and Portland and the new Atlanta map shows coverage extending to much of the metropolitan area:

This is a HUGE development for Clearwire, who earlier this year promised coverage in Atlanta as well as Las Vegas, Chicago, Charlotte, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Honolulu, Philadelphia, and Seattle in 2009 but hadn't made any apparent progress in the first few months of the year. Does the launch of Clear in Atlanta point to a greater chance of the other promised cities "going live" this year after all? Fingers are crossed!
