Today is a big day for the world of Clear 4G, Clear’s 4th market officially went live today with the launch of service in Las Vegas. As Clearwire put it, “ Las Vegas hit the jackpot.”. The launch of Clear brings WiMAX service to around 1.7 million residents all across the Las Vegas valley.
Additionally, Clearwire announced that on August 1, it will be offering a new modem called the 4G+. The 4G+ modem is a dual-mode USB type modem that has 4G/3G capability, which will be usable on Sprint’s 3G network, allowing Clear customers nationwide access to mobile broadband services.
As if the launch of a new market and a new modem wasn’t enough, Clearwire has also announced that they will be releasing the Clear Connection Manager Software for the Mac OS on August 17. Mac owners can download the software from Clear.com. NOTE: this software currently only has compatibility with the Clear 4G-Only USB modem, Mac software support for the new 4G/3G modem will be released in Q4 ’09 according to Clear.
