The Wall Street Journal notes that Clearwire has abandoned their retail strategy in favor of being a wholesale network provider. This is evident with the recent news that T-Mobile is in negotiation with Clearwire to obtain additional spectrum to build out their 4G HSPA+ network. This decision indicates a clear victory for Sprint, which owns a non-controlling majority in stake in Clearwire's 4G wireless services and uses Clearwire's network for their 4G WiMAX offerings.
