China Mobile has been testing their TD-LTE network trials and hopes to complete them by June to device makers, including Apple for future devices. This also gives Clearwire a boost after their announcement in September that they'll collaborate with China Mobile to speed up development on TD-LTE devices. In the September interview with FierceBroadbandWireless, Clearwire CTO John Saw indicated their primary goal is to accelerate deployment of global multi-band, multi-mode chipset that works between 2.3Ghz and 2.7Ghz frequencies. The next phase in China Mobile's preliminary testing will occur in six cities with 850 base stations. As these tests occur Clearwire has indicated they'll need to raise $600 million to deploy TD-LTE over their existing WiMAX footprint.
