During Clearwire's fourth quarter conference call, to discuss
Q4 2011 earnings Clearwire CEO Erik Prusch said "To satisfy the conditions for Sprint's LTE commitment, we are targeting at least the first 5,000 of these LTE sites to be on air by June of 2013, with a slightly longer-term objective of overlaying a total of approximately 8,000 sites." The initial build out should begin near the end of the first quarter, but it's to early to announce devices or pricing. After the
FCC rejected LightSquared's LTE proposal the door is now open for Clearwire to secure more wholesale arrangements.
