First Samsung LTE Phone, the SCH-r900, Approved By The FCC
The FCC seems to have their hands full as manufactures rush to develop and get their LTE-capable devices approved. Last week, we reported that LG's LTE aircard had been approved, and we're now hearing that Samsung has had their LTE handset approved as well. We were surprised to learn that this device isn't being designed for Verizon - MetroPCS will be carrying the phone instead! This model will be called the Samsung SCH-r900, and should be released within the next couple of months. Specific details on the phone aren't known at this time, we do know they plan to offer streaming video on demand, music downloads and a full web browsing experience. Although it's nice to see a LTE-capable handset slated for launch, LTE is still not publicly available. Sprint is still ahead of the curve with the worlds first 4G capable handset, the HTC EVO and features 4G coverage in 49 markets.
