Last year CLEAR released a Rover Puck that offered customers prepaid 4G access starting at $5 per day. This was an interesting idea but the line wasn't successful enough and they decided to pull the device back in May of this year. Until now customers could still enjoy the prepaid rates, however, CLEAR has sent out an email informing customers that as of July 1, 2011 they'll no longer be able to get a rover rate plan or service. Below you'll find the email that is going out to customers:
Dear Rover Customer,
Since you are a valued Rover customer, we want to let you know that as of July 1, 2011, we no longer will sell Rover rate plans and services. But here’s the good news: You can get super fast 4G take-it-with-you internet from CLEAR® on the same network you’ve come to know and love.
CLEAR built the 4G network that Rover customers use, so you can get the same coverage and speeds in a month-to-month plan with no long-term commitments. With CLEAR’s 4G HOME and 4G MOBILE plans, internet awesomeness starts at just $45/month.ˆ And if you need short-term internet access, try our Day Pass for only $10/day.ˆ**
And there’s even better news! It’s easy for you to make the switch to CLEAR. When your final Rover service session expires on or after July 1, 2011, and you then attempt to use your Rover device to connect to the internet through the launch of any internet browser, you automatically will be redirected to a designated web page to sign up for a new, compatible rate plan with CLEAR. CLEAR will waive any activation fees and provide a seamless transition with minimal interruption to your 4G internet service.
Updating your service is easy. On or after July 1, 2011, you simply will need to do the following:
1. Connect your Rover device and open an internet browser. You automatically will be redirected to a designated sign-up page, which will include steps to get you started.
2. On this sign-up page, you will be given the appropriate instructions, based on your device, to properly update your device firmware.
3. Once your device is prepped, you will be redirected to an appropriate page at clear.com, where you will be presented with options to purchase a new CLEAR service plan. All that is required is a credit or debit card. You also will be prompted to create a new customer profile.
If you need any assistance, we’ve compiled a page of frequently asked questions to assist you with this transition. You also can call CLEAR Customer Care at 1.888.888.9982.
We thank you for your business and look forward to welcoming you to CLEAR.
Sincerely,
CLEAR
