A variety of GPS companies have indicated that LightSquared's 4G LTE network should be barred from use due to interference issues with navigation systems. LightSquared has indicated that GPS companies could fix this for $400 million, but the the Coalition to Save Our GPS still indicated "major interference issues," in a filing Tuesday with the Federal Communications Commission. The FCC now has to decide to approve LightSquared's plan to use Satellite to deliver 4G broadband to as many as 260 million people. LightSquared needs to come up with a solution because the current situation will cause interference with aircraft's, boats, tractors and automobiles.
