How Sprint Will Manage their WiMAX/LTE Dual Offering

There has been a lot of talk between Sprint and LightSquared to develop a 4G LTE network and it's raided questions of how they'll manage LTE and their existing 4G WiMAX network. Sprint isn't a stranger when it comes to managing multiple networks like when Nextel merged with Sprint. Thankfully, WiMAX and LTE are a lot more similar and the technical barriers of hosting both services are being overcome already. The biggest hurdle that Sprint will face is getting a chipset manufacture to develop dual radios for a reasonable price and Huawei is already launching multiple convergent LTE/WiMAX ideas. These products will support multi-mode network connections, different frequency ranges and global roaming, which will allow you to easily switch a device between different networks. If Sprint can successfully manage multiple networks they could end up in a great position globally by offering devices that will work across the world.
