A few months ago we reported on a new network in developed called LightSquared, built and managed by Nokia Siemens Networks. We are now learning that this construction should be underway this December, only one month behind the rumored Verizon LTE commercial launch. The first anticipated markets will be in Dallas, Chicago and Minneapolis throughout 2011 with deployment in 20 cities in 2012. This is pretty good news and should provide a good deal of competition as the race for 4G service heats up. Of course Sprint and CLEAR are still out in the lead as the only current 4G capable carriers featuring WiMAX coverage in 54 markets.
