MetroPCS Plans Android Based 4G Phone In Early 2011

According to Electronista, MetroPCS plans to launch their first Android-powered LTE-capable smartphone in the first quarter of 2011. News of this latest 4G handset came direct from MetroPCS CEO Roger Linquist during an investor call, during which he said that this as-yet-unnamed Android device would be the first of about six LTE handsets due for release by the middle of next year. They currently only offer one LTE-capable handset, the Samsung Craft, which doesn't offer a lot of the advanced features you see on devices like the HTC EVO and Samsung Epic 4G. MetroPCS currently offers LTE in 7 cities throughout the U.S. and is the first carrier to offer a 4G LTE capable handset. It's unclear if any roaming agreements may be put into place with Verizon who just launched LTE service in 38 markets on 12/5/2010.
