According to Cnet a few of our U.S. Navy ships will be getting their own 4G LTE network by the end of the year. They plan to put rugged 4G LTE networks on three ships to help with mission planning and communications. Service can be extended by 20 nautical miles and maintain speeds up to 300Mbps by using a microwave based wireless network. The increased data throughput will be ideal for transmitting real-time video feeds for military on the sea or land based missions. The first ships to get 4G LTE will be the U.S.S Kearsarge, U.S.S San Antonio and U.S.S Whidbey Island.
