Hot on the heals of Samsung announcing their "Kalmia" LTE modem last week, Nokia has introduced their own LTE-capable modem. Nokia's "RD-3" modem will support multiple LTE bands to accommodate the networks of different operators and is also capable of connecting to 3G CDMA networks (like AT&T's 3G HSPA network). The RD-3 is not a standalone modem (like an aircard), but could be used in a variety of handsets or other devices. Nokia did not release any information about which, if any, US LTE providers might be interested in their LTE modem, but both Verizon and AT&T are planning on building and launching LTE networks in the US in the next couple of years, so either carrier may be interested in Nokia's modem.
