Obama to Promote Northern Michigan University's WiMAX System

Earlier this week we noted that President Obama mentioned his goal to serve 98 percent of Americans with 4G wireless within five years in his State of the Union Address. Now, Obama will be observing the WiMAX system at Northern Michigan University, to evaluate the usefulness of wireless 4G internet. The university plans to put on a demonstration to show how the wireless network has enabled distance learning from the community and helped local business owners grow their businesses. This visit will occur on February 8th, and could jump start the campaign to serve rural customers with high speed internet if all goes well.
