Samsung's head of mobile, J.K. Shin, recently spoke with Dow Jones in an interview and discussed the company's plans for the next generation Galaxy S smartphones and 4G tablets. Shin said "the race for 4G has already started. 4G transition is inevitable particularly for tablets because it requires faster download speeds than smartphones to handle bigger volume content." The 4G tablet will likely mirror the original Samsung Tab, but feature upgraded hardware and support for the latest 4G network. Shin also mentioned their plan to launch a third version of the Galaxy S, potentially the Galaxy S III, in the first half of 2012.
