Sprint & LightSquared to Announce LTE Deal

Sprint and LightSquared should be announcing a 4G LTE deal that could be worth up to $5 billion on July 28, which can help them compete if the AT&T/T-Mobile merger goes through. According to Cnet, LightSquared will start work on Sprint's backbone almost immediately and testing will begin early next year. These upgrades are estimated to save Sprint almost $10 billion over a seven year period. When these two join forces it should help them compete against Verizon's growing 4G LTE network and AT&T's soon to be deployed 4G network. The major advantage that Sprint and LightSquared has over the competition is the fact their 4G networks are the last truly unlimited data service available for mobile devices.
