Sprint Building TD-LTE, New Network to Launch First Half 2012?

Sprint has hinted at some exciting news they plan to announce officially on October 7 in their strategy update. However, information has gotten out on their intent to deliver FD-LTE, which will be a cross bread between Verizon and future partner LightSquared. They plan to use the iDEN spectrum they've been eliminating to deploy FD-4G LTE, and use their existing 2.5Ghz spectrum to convert WiMAX into TD-LTE. This will allow them to develop new chipsets in upcoming phones to accommodate both frequencies. This change is estimated to cost Sprint around $4- $5 billion, and should get completed over the next five years.
