At 4G world in Chicago last week, Sprint confirmed that they are planning to release a 4G WiMAX compatible handset next year, reportedly utilizing Google's Android Mobile OS as the platform. The new phone will be backwards compatible, meaning it will contain radios for both 4G WiMAX and 3G EVDO, but will prioritize the 4G connection and use that if it is available. Sprint's VP of 4G Business has reported that the phone will not be available until the Clear/Sprint 4G network reaches approximately 100 million people nationwide, which hopefully will not be too far in the future - keep those rollouts coming!
