In March of this year, Sprint made Google-fans very happy by announcing that they would soon be selling and supporting Google's Android Nexus One phone. After the huge response Sprint has received over the past couple of weeks for the upcoming 4G-capable HTC EVO (also an Android phone), they have changed their mind. Sprint spokeswoman Michelle Mermelstein said yesterday that the company has decided to abandon their plans to carry the Nexus One, instead focusing their energies on the HTC EVO.
As Mermelstein explained, the HTC EVO will offer “a more robust feature set and multimedia experience” than the Nexus One, and “there’s nothing that the Nexus One would bring that our customers couldn’t get with the HTC EVO 4G.” Plus, the HTC EVO will offer something the Nexus One (or any other phone) can: 4G WiMAX capabilities!
