Sprint to Offer 3G + 4G Devices By End of Year

Sprint's XOHM product list started with just two options - a Home Modem and an ExpressCard - but it has already been expanded to include WiMAX embedded laptops and there are more products promised. The most highly anticipated device is one that will allow users to access both Sprint's EVDO network AND their 4G WiMAX service.

According to executives, at least one device that will support both networks will  be available by the end of 2008. Barry West, president of the XOHM Business Unit, confirmed that it is in the works but did not offer any information on what type of device it would be (hopefully a USB modem) or what the pricing would be. He did make a point of saying that greater coverage costs more, presumably indicating that the price of EVDO + WiMAX data plans would cost more than the low rates they are currently offering for XOHM alone.
