T-Mobile has been using the 1700/2100Mhz frequency bands to provide 3G and HSPA (4G) coverage throughout the country. AT&T deployed 3G coverage on 800/1900Mhz making the two GSM carrier networks incompatible, which meant if you wanted to take a phone to T-Mobile, you'd be stuck on their Edge. This also further complicated antenna and repeater systems for T-Mobile because they required special AWS repeaters, because they were the only carrier using those frequencies. A thread has emerged over at HowardForums that shows T-Mobile is now deploying 3G service on 1900Mhz. If you refer to the picture above you'll notice the T-Mobile 3G icon on an iPhone, which 'should' be impossible, because unlocked iPhone's don't support 1700/2100Mhz. T-Mobile network code 260 was used to provision the device for 3G service on the 1900Mhz cellular frequency.
