If you've been waiting for more information on the devices that Verizon plans to offer for use on their upcoming LTE network, it sounds like 2011's CES show will be the place to be! Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam spoke this week at Barclays Capital Global Communications, Media & Technology Conference, urging investors to come to the 2011 Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas. Verizon plans on showcasing the new LTE network and devices at the event, with McAdam saying that attendees will “be amazed by the number and variety of LTE devices brought to the table." It was noted at an investor conference earlier in the month that McAdam said there might be up to five LTE phones by next May, from manufacturers such as Motorola, HTC, LG and BlackBerry

In addition to hinting about big device-related news, McAdam also hinted at a usage-based pricing scheme for LTE. As he has said before, he feels that the days of "all you can eat bandwidth" for a fixed price are coming to an end. As McAdam said, with the growth in wireless usage, “there will be a natural evolution towards purchasing megabytes of data”. He went on to say that the “concern will go away when new applications are brought on board”.  It’ll be interesting to see what these new applications will be, considering the 3G data caps already concern most of us.
