Verizon CFO Says Customers Will Pay A Premium For LTE

Verizon CFO John Killian spoke recently about some of the company's plans for when LTE officially goes live, and while no price points or data caps were mentioned, he did make reference to the usage-based pricing model that has been much discussed. Killian stated that "customers will pay for quality and premium service and premium speed," which seems to indicate that Verizon is planning to charge for LTE based on usage.

No specific date has been set publicly for Verizon's LTE launch, although rumors are stating November 15th, which would be the time to make a 4th quarter launch of 25-30 markets. The speeds at launch are still purported to be around 5-12Mbps down and 2-5Mbps up. These speeds are comparable with WiMAX and have the potential of giving both Sprint and CLEAR a run for their money.
